Conversations With Cindy: Remembering –and Celebrating – My Friend and Mentor Bill Winsor

Posted by Cindy Morris on January 15, 2025

Family.

I often talk about family and relationships – whether it’s the joy of working for a family-owned business, our family of Dallas Market Center associates, or our close relationships with exhibitors and retailers.  It’s these relationships that sustain a business for the long-term and help turn a job into a community of mentorship and support.

While I have had supportive relationships during my work life there was no one more important than Bill Winsor, our chairman emeritus, who passed away last month after a brief illness.

Bill worked for our owners, the Crow family, for 43 years, initially developing a technology trade center called Infomart with Mr. Crow and then serving Dallas Market Center for three decades. Bill and I worked together for 32 years, and he was not only an amazing executive for the company but an inspiring mentor for many of us. Bill’s calm demeanor was a trait we envied.  His sales and negotiating skills, learned from Mr. Crow, were another characteristic that made him so unique.  But his interests outside of work including history, woodworking, authoring two books on Texas history and antique shopping provided a great balance to this larger-than-life man.

I can honestly say that our company is better today because of Bill Winsor, the people who knew him are better for having known him, and I am a better leader.

Rest in peace, Bill, and know that we will proudly carry on your legacy.
