As you may know, I scout days ahead of each Market to find lines and items that excite me to show you on what we call Rawlins’s show and tell ‘Discovery Tours’. Ahead of January Total Home & Gift Market, here are some things that gave me ‘this thing will sell’ chills and thrills.
Go see animated stuffed animals that tell stories and sing at Cliff Price in TM 1860 from CUDDLE BARN ($250 min.). The ‘cool cat’ with a guitar is $16 each and the pirate dog is $14. Dalton the Dinosaur tells five stories for $17 (min 2 each). You’ll go nuts with people playing these in your store even as you reorder.
Books are an easy thing to skip but don’t. At Goetz TM 2000, the gold standard of books is Abrams and the minimum is $75 total. There were so many beautiful books at an affordable price that my coffee table now looks like a bookmobile. Also at Goetz, buy the outrageously funny hamburger, hotdog, and birthday hats at $4.50 each with a minimum purchase of 4.
Bearington in WTC 360 ($200 min) was my favorite find for baby and children’s items. They are so cute and affordable that you’ll want to adopt twins. Everything is under $30! Highlights include the football or baseball rattle at $3.50, the pink dog at $8.00, and the fantasy animal coats at $17-$17.50.
Dale Tillery in WTC 3091 ($300 min) has items like the crystal Flower Top Perfume bottle at $35 that have HUGE markup potential. Their array of affordable glass and crystal items are so refreshing you’ll need restraint to not over-order. Also, look for the peacock motif vase at $60!
Make sure to register for January Total Home & Gift Market and don't miss the anticipated tours hosted by Rawlins Gilliland.
