Parachute Home
There isn’t a store buyer or executive worth his retail bones who doesn’t find the time to visit other stores when they’re traveling. That’s why building in a few hours for a retail road trip when you’re in town for market is well worth your time.
LightSource has done a little scouting homework and offers up the following recommendations for things worth seeing in the Dallas area (All travel times are from the Market Center).
And don’t forget, this is work, not play.
7300 Windrose Avenue
Plano
(About 45 minutes depending on traffic)
The store everyone in retailing is talking about — part pop-up, part branding platform, part experiential showcase. There’s home here, but so much more to explore. They call themselves a department store, but trust us, you’ve never seen a department store like this.
4539 Travis St.
Dallas
(About 15 minutes)
One of the darlings of direct-to-consumer home furnishings, Parachute is now moving into physical retailing locations, including this pop-up in the always-worth-visiting Knox-Henderson neighborhood. Go see how they’re converting online to in-store.
1707 Oak Lawn Avenue
Dallas
(About 5 minutes)
One of the best-known names in contemporary home furnishings, B&B Italia has opened a new Dallas flagship, 6,000 square feet of the best of Italian modern design. There’s even an outdoor courtyard if the weather cooperates.
8867 N. Central Expressway
Dallas
(About 20 minutes depending on traffic)
Yes, it’s the noted department store, which has a limited home furnishings presence, but the retailer has been in the forefront of pop-up departments, always surprising in nature and worth visiting. We’re not sure what will be there this time, but it’s probably going to be worth seeing.
