One of the things I’m most proud of, out of all the things we do here at the market center, is the roster of special events, seminars and educational sessions that we present during our shows and markets. Over the many years I’ve been here, these are often among the highlights of our market weeks.
Coming up in January is something new for us, we’re calling it the “Masters” and it’s a series of three live demonstrations in the floral and seasonal design category, one that has always been a core area for us. Taking place Wednesday, Jan. 7th through Friday the 9th, The Masters will feature John Mark Sharpe, Presley Pierce and Chris Norwood that will showcase each designer’s expertise in visual style during live interactive demonstrations of their techniques, tips and insights.
Things kick off on the 7th at 1pm with Chris Norwood and Setting A Seasonal Tablescape. Chris will celebrate the season with a live tablescape-building experience demonstrating how to craft a festive and stylish setting that elevates your table and delights your guests. That’s followed at 3pm with John Mark and The Business of Bows. Watch as he builds an original design using a mix of materials, showcasing creative techniques and the versatility of his product.
On Thursday the 8th, the Masters series continues at 3pm with a return session with John Mark on Setting the Tablescape Experience. John brings his vision to life by building a stunning tablescape, blending texture, color and design details that capture his artistic approach to entertaining and décor.
And then the program wraps up on Friday at 1pm with Presley Pierce and A Christmas Tree Masterclass. Watch as he transforms an ordinary tree into a stunning holiday centerpiece, sharing insider tips on design, styling and what inspires him along the way. All events take place at the International Home and Design Center’s second floor Demo Wall.
I don’t know about you, but I’m always amazed by the artistry of people like John, Presley and Chris who create these magical displays. I know I couldn’t do it...but I might get a little closer after watching them. Hope you’ll be there too.
