Providing plenty of design inspiration for the lighting and home industries, one of the most anticipated new buildings of the year is the new Apple corporate headquarters in Silicon Valley. Originally conceived and planned by the late Steve Jobs himself, the circular building – often described as a spaceship – was largely overseen by Apple design chief Jony Ives, whose reputation for detail was only matched by Jobs himself.

Chances are very few of us in the lighting business will get a guided tour of the new facility, which opened over the summer and cost upwards of $5 billion to build. But a recent Wallpaper magazine article provided a very hands-on look at the Apple complex, which should wow residential and commercial designers …not to mention providing some aspirational ideas for companies looking to build or update their own offices and showrooms.
