You’ll still be able to shop — and have lunch at the Zodiac — at the historic Neiman Marcus flagship in downtown Dallas in 2026. At least for the immediate future.
Local civic leaders and executives at Saks Global — which now owns the Neiman’s chain — announced they have agreed to keep the legendary store open past the 2025 holiday shopping season.
“We continue to have productive conversations with the City of Dallas to potentially reimagine the Neiman Marcus Downtown Dallas location,” Saks said in a statement. “The store will remain open past the 2025 Holiday season while this process continues in 2026.” According to a published report, the company added it is committing to serving its loyal customer base in Dallas.
The future of the store, originally opened in 1907, has been in doubt since Saks bought Neiman’s at the end of 2024 and initially said it planned to close the downtown store, instead concentrating on a major $100 million investment at the North Park Center store. City officials pushed back and Saks agreed to keep the downtown location open, first through the spring of this year and then through the end of 2025. Now that has been pushed out into the new year.
Various plans have been discussed including a scaled down retail location, an event space, a Neiman’s museum or some combination of all of these concepts. For now, the store stays open and any future timetable is yet to be decided. If you’re hungry or thirsty the Zodiac continues to take reservations in the meantime.
