Rick Wiedemer (1947-2019)
On behalf of the executive team of Dallas Market Center, the Crow family, our associates and partners I am extending sincere condolences to the Wiedemer family and the Hinkley Lighting family upon Rick’s untimely passing. A memorial service will be held at St. Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Road, Rocky River, OH 44116 on Friday, August 16 at 12:00pm. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge Road, Fairview Park, OH from 2-7pm on Thursday, August 15.
Rick was the pillar of his company, his community, and his industry. His passion and dedication were simply unmatched. As CEO of one of the most respected lighting companies in the world and as a member of the Lighting Board of Governors here in Dallas he was instrumental in creating innovations and opportunities that generously benefitted everyone. Likewise, I know first-hand that lighting retail and Lightovation are stronger today because of Rick.
That’s because the best qualities of the industry were personified and shared by Rick: honesty, generosity, integrity, perseverance, originality, and yes, love. No one loved the business nor was more invested in the success of the lighting business than Rick. Over the years we all observed those Wiedemer virtues -- whether at the office, the factory, Lightovation, American Lighting Association Conference, on the water or in the stands for an Indians game.
Rick had many distinguishing qualities but perhaps his greatest gift to others was time. He was always a generous listener, a fierce advocate, an insightful critic, and an inspiring coach to many of us. I have no doubt that his children will carry forward Rick’s bedrock values and spirited legacy.
Although hastened by tragedy, please join me in celebrating Rick’s remarkably important and profoundly positive time on earth.
Sincerely,
Cindy
