Running September 15–17, Dallas Design Week brings three full days of programming that includes the Business of Home Accelerator Series (read more about that here) and the second DMC Design Ambassador Vignette Reveal Party, where Burkle Creative and Yates Desygn unveil their latest installations.
And then there's Wednesday afternoon, when designers get to experience something even more exciting: the chance to sit in a room with Charlotte Moss.
One look at a Charlotte Moss interior and you understand why her work has inspired designers for decades. Four decades into a career that has taken her from Wall Street to the world's most storied interiors, Moss has defined what layered, gracious living looks like — and doing it in a way no one else quite can. Getting to hear her talk about how that eye came to be is a rare thing. Getting to meet her afterward is rarer still.
On Wednesday, September 16, Coco & Dash Interiors presents "Charlotte's Eye: How Instinct Shapes a Life in Rooms," an intimate conversation with Moss exploring the experiences that inform how she sees, collects, and designs. The talk runs from 2 to 3 p.m., just outside Coco & Dash To The Trade (IHDC 1D106).
Moss opened her eponymous firm in 1985 and has spent the decades since designing private residences and executive suites across the U.S. and abroad. She has long described her approach as "couture living," an emphasis on rooms built for the people who actually use them rather than for a photograph.
That philosophy is the throughline of her 11 books, her licensed collections with names like Century Furniture and Stark Carpet, and the lectures she has delivered everywhere from museums to trade fairs.
For an audience of designers and retailers, "Charlotte's Eye" offers a look at how instinct develops over a career. The conversation will move through travel, collecting, entertaining, and craftsmanship, tracing how each of those experiences shapes the way Moss reads beauty and builds a home. It's a rare opportunity to hear a designer talk through process, straight from decades of practice.
Immediately following the talk, Moss will sign copies of her newest book, Charlotte Moss: At Home in Virginia, releasing this September.
The book opens the doors to Moss's own home and gardens in Virginia, tracing the historic influences behind the property with the eye of a design historian and the sensibility of a longtime tastemaker. Readers move through entertaining rooms, considered workspaces, a flower room, serene bedrooms, garden grounds, and a tower retreat. It's a fitting companion to the day's conversation, taking the instincts Moss discusses onstage and grounding them in the rooms she calls her own.

The Moss conversation and signing anchor a Wednesday full of programming during Dallas Design Week, September 15–17.
The day also brings the Dine + Design luncheon featuring the Sherwin-Williams Rewild Colormix® Trend Forecast 2027 and the Change Your Light, Change Your Life panel on color, mood, and human-centered design, followed that evening by the DMC Design Ambassador Vignette Reveal Party.
Dallas Design Week runs alongside ArchLIGHT Summit, the DALI Alliance's North America Summit, and, for the first time, the American Society of Interior Designers' national GATHER: Catalyst conference (September 16-18), widening the pool of design and lighting professionals on campus that week.
